Many creators search for a DJI D-Log M LUT when they actually need two different things: a technical conversion and a creative look.
Technical conversion
A D-Log M to Rec.709 conversion or color-management step normalizes the footage. It helps move flat footage into a normal viewing space.
Creative LUT
A creative LUT adds style: warmer tones, cooler shadows, softer contrast, film-inspired color, or a travel look. It should come after basic correction or normalization.
Simple order
- Correct exposure and white balance.
- Normalize D-Log M or flat footage if needed.
- Apply a creative LUT.
- Adjust intensity and final contrast.
Why this matters
If you use a creative LUT as a technical converter, the image can look too contrasty, too saturated, or inconsistent. Keep the technical step and creative step separate.
