DJI Pocket 4 D-Log Color Grading: A Simple LUT Workflow

Flat DJI footage gives you more room to shape the image, but it also means you need a proper workflow. If you drop a heavy LUT on the clip too early, the image can get crunchy fast.

Here is a simple Pocket 4 workflow that works well for creator edits and quick client previews.

1. Correct exposure first

Before choosing a look, bring the shot into a normal range. Keep an eye on bright skies, white shirts and reflective water. If those areas are clipped, a LUT will not bring them back.

2. Set white balance

DJI clips can shift under mixed light. Fix the color temperature and tint before adding a creative look. This keeps skin and neutrals from drifting too far.

3. Apply a creative LUT gently

Start with the LUT at about 50–80% strength. For standard color footage, go lower. For flatter footage, you can usually push a little more, but the best grade is still the one that fits the shot.

4. Make small scene-level adjustments

After the LUT, adjust contrast, saturation and skin tones. Do not force every clip to match perfectly. Travel footage often looks better when each scene keeps some of its own light and atmosphere.

5. Export a phone test

Most Pocket 4 clips end up on phones. Export a short section and check it on a mobile screen before publishing. If the shadows feel too dark or the colors feel too loud, pull the LUT back.

The LumaKit DJI Pocket 4 LUT Pack is built for this kind of workflow: fast, clean, and easy to adjust.
