DJI’s Pocket line has reached the point where the footage is good enough to grade like a real camera, not just a phone clip. Pocket 4 brings a larger sensor, 10-bit log-style recording options and cleaner low-light files, so the old “add contrast and call it done” approach starts to fall apart.

If you are shooting Pocket 4 or Pocket 4 Pro footage for travel, vlogs, client previews or short-form social video, the goal is simple: keep the file clean, fix the basics first, then use a creative LUT as the look—not as a rescue tool.

Start with the clip, not the LUT

Before you apply any LUT, check three things:

  • Exposure: bring highlights under control before adding contrast.
  • White balance: fix green or magenta casts early, especially under mixed indoor light.
  • Profile: flat or log-style footage usually needs a gentler touch than standard color footage.

A LUT works best when the shot is already in the right neighborhood. If a clip is too blue, too dark or badly clipped, the LUT will make those problems more obvious.

A simple Pocket 4 / Pocket 4 Pro workflow

  1. Import your DJI footage into DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or CapCut.
  2. Correct exposure and white balance first.
  3. Apply a creative .cube LUT at 50–80% strength.
  4. Adjust contrast and saturation after the LUT, not before everything is balanced.
  5. Export a short test clip and check it on your phone before publishing.

Which looks work best?

For Pocket 4 travel clips, I usually prefer looks that keep the shadows open and avoid heavy orange skin tones. Coastline and city footage can handle more contrast, but indoor vlog footage needs a softer grade. Drone clips often need extra care in the sky: too much saturation makes the blue look cheap very quickly.
